Research Interest

Hwang's research interests encompass cryptographic hardware for embedded system security, digital signal processing architectures, and VLSI digital systems and circuits.

Biography

David D. Hwang received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1997, 2001, and 2005, respectively. In 2004, he was a visiting international scholar at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, conducting research on cryptographic hardware and embedded security. From 2005-2006, he was with KeyEye Communications, a semiconductor developer of multi-gigabit Ethernet transceivers. From 2006-2007 he was a Senior Staff Scientist at Broadcom Corporation, investigating VLSI signal processing algorithms and architectures for digital communication ICs. He joined the electrical and computer engineering department of George Mason University as an assistant professor in the spring of 2007. Dr. Hwang was a University of California Regents Scholar, Department of Defense NDSEG Graduate Fellow, and a Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellow. He is a member of IEEE, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Beta Kappa.
